55+ Communities
The Southwestern area of Florida including Sarasota and Charlotte counties has many 55 plus communities. These unique senior associations are highly sought after for people that are 55 and over in age. Some 55-Plus communities offer many features such as deed restrictions, community club houses, community pools, tennis, shuffleboard, and many other great services and activities.
The attraction of living in a Florida 55+ community are many. First and foremost retirees love the warm Floridian weather. There are also many activities that are organized by these communities such as social events, weekly dinners, bingo, casino nights, exercise classes, craft classes, group travel trips, and many others. All of these offerings make these communities a fun place to retire. Retirees find they are surrounded by like minded individuals that enjoy both their privacy and their social lives. Many communities are located within walking and biking distance to grocery stores and shopping.
In order to purchase a home or condo in a 55-plus community the homeowner must be at least the age of 55. There are rules and regulations that dictate who can visit and stay in the owners home and for what specific period of time. There may be many other specific deed restrictions that must be looked at before purchasing a home in a community such as this.
