Osprey Florida Real Estate

Osprey, Florida is a small
town on the sparkling Gulf of Mexico with a population of less than 10,000
located in Sarasota
County. Located just
south of Sarasota,
Osprey is only 5.5 square miles and is a diverse area with many new and upscale
luxury developments currently under construction. A number of million dollar
homes also currently line the waterways in Osprey, as well as more moderately
priced homes in the same vicinity.
Named after the bird, Osprey is an area rich with history
and small town charm. One of the most interesting historical points of Osprey
is the Historic Spanish Point, the site of restored historic homesteads of Sarasota County. This site dates as far back as
3,000 B.C. and was home to Calusa Indians and turn of the century settlers.
Here you can tour the John and Eliza Webb Citrus Farm and see how oranges were
packaged in the 1800’s. The Oscar
Scherer State
Park is another point of interest in Osprey,
where you can enjoy their nature preserve and a variety of activities. A number
of species call the preserve home from bobcats and alligators to bald eagles
and river otters. The park also has 15 miles of biking trails and is a popular
destination for camping, kayaking, canoeing, picnics, fishing and more.
While Osprey, FL is located on the water, all of the beaches
in the town are private. However, beachcombers and boaters can enjoy beach
access at nearby Casey Key or Siesta Key. Commercial restaurants are few and
far between in Osprey, but fine dining can be found on the waterfront in Blackburn Bay
or in nearby Venice or Sarasota. Much of the shopping in Osprey is
located on US 41, but even more can be found in surrounding cities as well.
Great schools, hospitals, golfing, houses of worship and more are available
nearby. Osprey Fla is in an excellent location for families
and retirees alike! Minutes away from the interstate, Osprey isn’t far from
amusement parks in Tampa and Orlando,
as well as performing arts, sporting events, major shopping malls, museums and
more in Sarasota and Fort Myers. In fact, downtown Sarasota is only a 20
minute drive away.
There are a number of relocation and realty possibilities in
Osprey depending on what you are looking for. From moderately priced
single-family homes to million dollar waterfront luxury homes, Osprey has just
what you are looking for, and everything in between. Gated communities such as
The Oaks may be just what you are looking for. If a small Gulf front town, rich
with local history and near to all of the comforts of a large city is what you
are looking for, Osprey may be just the place for you.
