Zillow.com is an interesting new website that allows you to get a free valuation of property. Zillow.com calls it a "zestimate" but whatever the terminology, it basically offers a crude comparative market analysis. Zillow.com will tell you how much homes in your neighborhood have sold for and what the property tax is. It has gathered data from county property records for 62 million homes across the country, and adds more daily. Zillow.com shows the home in question on a satellite map and also shows the value of homes around it. The results are not always spot on. Actually the site is only within 10% of accurate value about 62% of the time. This accuracy also varies greatly state by state.
